HAIR TREND: THE BUN / BUNNING.

  (source:NaturalHairRules!)
Hi, everyone it's another week, and it's back to the grindstone; may God bless our hustle! Amen!

For awhile now, i've observed the bun/bunning trend, and not just in Lagos, even down dirty/south! Lol Although it seems to be ebbing a bit but it would always be a classic.

And it's mostly done with hair extensions. The hair is braided, corn-rowed or "lace-wigged" and then put into a bun. The corn-row is done towards the position where the bun is to be located. The fun of it is you get to position the bun anywhere you like, you can switch it up as often as you like! On the crown, the centre,to the side, closer to the nape etc. I'm partial to the one on the center; I think it's "regal." :)

Its more convenient where the hair is either in braids, locs, twists or in a lace-front or full lace-wig, because you can get to wear your hair in a variety of styles as opposed to just flat-twisting/corn-rowing the hair into a bun style.

You can bun as a way to refresh your old braids or twists, obviously the hair has to be at least 8 inches for it to fit into a proper bun, although extensions such as a faux bun can be used. It's also a good low-manipulative style, especially for my fellow naturals.

I'm not overtly critical, maybe that's why I think that any one can carry it off, inspite of the shape of the face. Just do you!

Here's the link to a Sock Video-How-To. It can be adapted to just one bun. Hope it makes it easier for those who would like to but don't know how to bun. Two Buns and a Swoop

Meanwhile, here are different variations of bunning, some are even done with loose, natural hair. I, for one, can't wait to wear a bun! I'm waiting until my hair is at least arm-pit length(APL), I can wear one now but i don't want a puny, 'lil bun. I want a bouffant, big one without extensions! Grow hair, grow!
